What Are Your Web Site Goals?

It’s 2009. A new year. And with each new year, people generally set goals and expectations for the months to come.

What about your web site?

What goals and expectations have you set for your web site that you would like to see happen for 2009?

The truth is, most people don’t have goals at all for their web site. A web site is something that’s “there.” Many people feel compelled to have a web site because their competitors do.

But that’s a waste.

It’s a waste of your time and your audience’s time.

Why do you own or work for a business? A non-profit? The most important reason is to obviously make money. Then there are likely secondary reasons – to offer a valuable product or service, help others, spread a worthy message and so forth.

Why not instill those same values in your web site? Your web site is an extension of your organization. Therefore, it should support your organization through tangible results.

With any successful organization, you’ll find intelligent goal-setting and goal-measuring. These business owners have succeeded because they imagined a level of success they wanted and then they achieved it.

Your web site is no different. Without goals, you have no direction. Without a direction, you have no results.

So if your web site is sitting stale and result-less, it’s time to make a change for 2009. Treat your web site as if it were a business. Set goals for it. Determine expectations. Then achieve.
